Do you dare to attend ISPO Munich 2024 despite these dangers? 5 reasons not to come to ISPO Munich

No ticket for ISPO Munich yet? Maybe that’s for the best – there’s a real danger of going international! Who wants to multiply their network, be inspired by creative ideas and come across ground-breaking innovations? It’s much more relaxed to leave things as they are and watch the competition overtake you. Or maybe not…? ISPO Munich is not only the world’s biggest sports business event, it’s also dangerous. Here are 5 reasons why it might not be the right place for you after all.

1. The danger of taking off (internationally)

Over 60,000* Participants from around 120* countries come together with almost 2,500* exhibitors in one place – and then also exchange ideas. About trends and premieres from the fields of sport, health, fashion, tech and sustainability. That’s far too much looking outside the box and into other industries, markets and countries.

You run the risk of losing track of all the business insights, industry know-how and exciting discussions and possibly even entering into profitable collaborations. Shaping the future of your own industry together? Who would come up with such an idea?

In times of a shortage of skilled workers and uncertain career paths, it is a bad idea to look for new talent or an exciting position. Who wants to have to take off just because they suddenly discover the perfect opportunity?

2. Transformation is only for the others

The sports industry and the fashion world are experiencing radical upheavals, the tech and health markets are growing, they are all transforming. Why should you still be working on your own transformation? It would be uncomfortable, and sustainable change seems to be a myth anyway.

So why expose yourself to the latest products and developments on one of the biggest platforms in the industry? It’s better to stay in your comfort zone – otherwise someone will end up coming up with the idea of improving your own products. At ISPO Munich, you can see what others are doing better – whether it’s new trends, marketing strategies or innovative products. There is a wealth of expert presentations and workshops, six stages and six conferences. You could easily return with a head full of new ideas and a backpack full of market analyses that could even transform your own business model. Does that mean work? Perhaps. Better to just leave everything as it is.

3. The innovations are simply too tempting

Over 10 halls full of innovations, brands and products – why be inspired by the latest innovations in the sports and outdoor industry when everything is going really well anyway? New technologies, sustainable materials, innovative solutions and award-winning products – all this may sound interesting, but who wants to risk their own business adapting to the current market?

With so many sustainable products and solutions, a company could be tempted to change its own production chain and integrate green solutions. Better to stick with the old processes and save the conversion costs – and the better environmental balance.

Better to stick with the tried and tested and wait and see what the others do. If they pull away, you can always start running again… right?

4. The network could quickly become too large

ISPO is full of pioneers, experts and visionary minds – and all under the slogan LOVE EVERY CONTACT. What are you supposed to do when you meet interesting people there who could inspire you and take your business to a new level? And all this in a pleasant atmosphere, with a free drink or two and exuberant parties? It’s almost cheeky to call it business.

Who needs networking when you’d rather sit quietly in your office and hope for customers and partners to come knocking on your door? In the end, you make contacts at ISPO Munich that you didn’t even have on your list and that open doors for you where you wouldn’t have thought possible. You would then have to go through them too…

5. Too many fascinating new impressions

10 halls, 6 conferences, 6 stages and over 2,400 exhibitors? Inspiring athletes and international stars such as Malaika Mihambo, Andre Agassi and Julian Nagelsmann? Where do you even begin? And who wants to be overwhelmed by all the new insights from the fields of sport, health, fashion, tech and sustainability?

It’s much more enjoyable to simply see how others are enjoying the latest developments – not that you could accidentally become the market leader.

Who needs a head full of new ideas and fresh motivation? So it’s better to stay at home to be on the safe side and leave things as they are…

…right?
